T20 World Cup: Pat Cummins’ Luggage Lost, Starc & Maxwell Troubled by Delayed Flights En Route to the Caribbean
A few Australian players have linked up with the squad in Barbados after a pit stop at home. But their journey to the West Indies turned out to be a nightmare.

The Australians gathered in the Caribbean before their T20 World Cup campaign opener against Oman. Five squad members, featured in the final leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, linked up with the team in Barbados after a pit stop at home. But their journey to the West Indies turned out to be a nightmare.

According to cricket.com.au, Australia pacer Pat Cummins, who led the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finals, had to spend more than two days in transit between Sydney and the Caribbean. His wife Becky revealed their luggage was lost along the way. However, it has been learned that Cummins is with him now.

Meanwhile, Micthell Starc and Glenn Maxwell were troubled by the flight delays and forced to spend a night in Los Angeles and another in Miami before arriving in Barbados. Earlier, allrounder Marcus Stoinis missed a warm-up match against the West Indies in Trinidad last week after his cricket kit failed to arrive on time.

Speaking with the press, spin bowler Ashton Agar said the Aussies went on a sunset cruise on Saturday which helped them rebind and get together before heading into the quest for a second T20 World Cup title.

“A lot of the boys are coming off a long time in India in the IPL, maybe 48 hours at home for a couple of them, so to do something like that is so refreshing,” Agar told reporters.

“I think mentally once you’ve done that, you go into the sessions ready to go, because you’ve already enjoyed what the Caribbean has to offer. We were sitting on the roof of the catamaran as we were coming back last night and ‘Stoin’ (Stoinis) actually mentioned that, ‘I don’t know if many other teams would be like this’,” he added.

Australia’s optional training session at Windward CC

The Aussies had an optional training session at the Windward Cricket Club which 5 players, including Agar, attended. Australia will face Oman at the Kensington Oval on Wednesday.

“Getting them hitting to the side the wind is not going to is important. There’s been a lot of weather around so I imagine it will be windy every day here in Barbados. The good thing is we won’t be surprised,” Agar said.
