'Unless Someone Takes A Double Hattrick...': GT Skipper Shubman Gill Reflects On Embarrassing Loss to DC
Today was just the third instance of GT getting bowled out in an IPL game, after getting bowled out for 157 in Qualifier 1 against CSK last year and for 130 against LSG at Lucknow earlier this month.

It was never meant to be for the Gujarat Titans from the start today, as the batting order failed to find any momentum, with DC’s pacers wreaking havoc resulting in an embarrassing six-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals.

Much credit has to be paid to DC skipper Rishabh Pant, whose rotation of bowlers was spot-on tonight as GT never once looked threatening with the bar and was eventually bowled out for a franchise-record low of 89 runs.

“Our batting was very average, and it is important to move on and come back strong. The wicket was alright, if you see some of the dismissals, it had nothing to do with the pitch. Poor shot selection I would say,” stated GT skipper Shubman Gill at a post-match interview.

For DC, it was supposed to be light work with the bat, but GT fought with gumption to scalp four wickets off the top-order, but couldn’t do much else, as DC wrapped up the win in just 8.5 overs, the sixth-fastest victory in IPL history.

“When the opposition is chasing 89, unless someone takes a double hat-trick, the opposition will always be in the game,” said Gill.

“This is just the halfway mark of the season for us, we have won 3 and hopefully, we win another 5-6 from the next 7 matches, like we have done in the last couple of years.”

GT sure will be hoping to recreate history again as with their embarrassing loss tonight, opponents DC instantly shot their way up to sixth place from ninth, ousting Gujarat Titans from the spot and pushing the rest of the teams below them along with GT down by one position.
