Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul and ex-Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni reunited at the MA Chidambaram Stadium ahead of their IPL clash on Tuesday.
The two sides met each other in Lucknow last Friday, and LSG got the better of the five-time champions by eight wickets in that game.
Both Rahul and Dhoni played their roles to perfection. Batting first, CSK posted 176 on the board thanks to a late flourish from Dhoni. The legendary skipper smashed 28 runs in just nine balls.
During the run chase, Rahul produced his best innings of IPL 2024 so far, scoring 82 to help his side successfully chase the total.
Coming back to the video posted by LSG on social media, Rahul and Dhoni can be seen having a brief chat during the training session in Chennai on Monday followed by a handshake and a hug.
The video then transitioned into a montage of the duo, showing how Rahul has also walked in the footsteps of Dhoni.

Following LSG’s win over CSK last week, Rahul came up with a special gesture for Dhoni as he took his cap off during the customary handshake with the former India captain.
Rahul made his debut for India in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia in 2014, which was coincidentally Dhoni’s last-ever outing in red-ball cricket. Dhoni was, of course, serving as the captain of India at the time.

Ahead of the game, CSK coach Stephen Fleming lavished huge praise on Dhoni, who has hit 87 runs in just 34 balls in seven matches so far at a strike rate of 255.88.
“It’s inspirational, isn’t it? His batting this year, even in the pre-season training, has been very crisp,” Fleming told reporters.
The match between CSK and LSG is bound to have repercussions on the top four race in IPL 2024, as this is a battle between the fourth and fifth-placed teams. Both teams have similar records until this point; after seven games, CSK and LSG are level on eight points, with the former having a superior net run rate.
