A clip of Virat Kohli’s iconic speech in front of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s squad has been reshared by the franchise on Instagram. With a playoff qualification opportunity now up for grabs in the men’s edition of the tournament, the club decided to highlight their former skipper’s wise words which he shared with his female counterparts in last year’s Women’s Premier League (WPL) campaign.
In the video, the ace batter can be heard saying, “Like there is a one per cent chance and sometimes that chance is good enough". The franchise seemed to agree with their ex-captain’s words from the past. “It’s in our hands now", Bengaluru wrote in the post’s caption.
Several Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans have now reacted to the post, suggesting they have full faith in Kohli’s words. One of them remained hopeful of his team’s chances of making the playoffs as he wrote, “Still hope alive for qualification and it will happen if you believe in Virat".

One fan motivated the side by urging them to play fearless cricket in the upcoming clash. “We believe in you, play bold", he wrote.
“That’s why he is my idol", replied another fan.
The shared clip dates back to March 2023 when Virat Kohli visited the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s squad after the side had endured a nightmare start to their campaign. The team had lost five straight games in the campaign with nearly no chances left of making the playoffs. However, Virat’s speech seemed to change the air surrounding the women cricketers as they trashed the UP Warriors in their next game by eight wickets. While they didn’t make the playoffs that season, Bengaluru returned the next year with a vengeance. They put up an impressive show in 2024, crowning themselves as the second-ever champions of the WPL.
As for the men’s squad, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad are currently preparing to take on the Chennai Super Kings for a shot at the IPL 2024 playoffs. The three-time finalists will have to win their clash against the five-time winners by a decent margin to make the knockout phase. Bengaluru are currently on a five-match winning streak and will be eager to continue that run against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side. It remains to be seen if Bengaluru can successfully complete their reverse sweep into the playoffs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18.
