The Bihar government is set to provide MBBS education to students in Hindi in medical colleges of the state. The syllabus and books would be ordered from the Aryabhatta Knowledge University, so that students can be taught in Hindi. It will be a great implementation and will help those students who have received their prior education in Hindi. The objective of the initiative is to offer medical education to those who have Hindi as their mother tongue. The faculty will also be selected accordingly, who can teach MBBS in Hindi. The enrollment process will kick start soon. Every year, hundreds of students want to enrol for MBBS in the famous Bihar colleges and now, the addition of the Hindi language will boost admission processes as well, as students will be free to choose what medium they want to learn their course in.
It will be implemented fully and get official recognition. A few words like gallbladder, kidney, and fallopian tubes would be different in Hindi and English languages. There will be separate batches for students studying in the different languages. Currently, books on various subjects related to MBBS are being published in both Hindi and English. A tender has been issued for the purchase of the books at the university level.
MBBS studies in Hindi will start first in a few major departments like Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT), Biochemistry, Microbiology, Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Anesthesia, Radiology, Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Pathology, Skin, ENT and other major departments.
JLNMCH Principal, Dr Uday Narayan Singh shared that work is going on at the University to ensure MBBS studies in Hindi. The process of purchasing books in Hindi languages will commence as soon as it is available. Hindi-speaking natives will benefit from this move and get a better opportunity to receive medical education in their mother tongue.
In 2023, Hindi was introduced as a medium of instruction in all the government medical schools throughout Uttar Pradesh.
