According to reports, Ratan Tata initially worked as an architect before moving into business. He graduated from Cornell University’s College of Architecture with a degree in BSc. After completing the course, he worked as an architect for around two years before joining the Tata Group in 1961. His early work involved time spent on the shop floor of Tata Steel, as noted in the reports. In 1975, he studied at Harvard Business School, completing the Advanced Management Program. Over the years, Ratan Tata has been awarded several honorary degrees from various institutions around the world, including the University of Manchester in Britain. In 1991, he became Chairman of the Tata Group, a position he held until December 2012.
