The Himachal School Education Board has withdrawn the decision to introduce the subject of Sanskrit in the primary schools of the state. This decision comes as a relief for primary school teachers, as there was only one teacher employed in many schools. After the introduction of the subject Sanskrit, the burden on children due to education had increased. It was also worrying that the teachers did not know much about the subject of Sanskrit.
According to the information, the Himachal School Education Board also printed books on Sanskrit and have arrived in schools. In the meantime, it was decided to cancel the compartment. The primary schools in the district are already suffering from a shortage of teachers. In 2023, the administration addressed a problem regarding the problems of teachers and children.
Last year, the examination sheets for the Sanskrit subjects were not printed by the examination committee and were not sent to the schools. For this reason, the teachers at the schools themselves created the exam sheets and took the annual exams with the students.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur had promised to solve this problem. The chairman of the District Primary Teachers Association, Rakesh Sharma, Secretary General Satendra Minhas, the heads of all departments and other primary school teachers have come up with this decision. At the same time, Vishal Sharma, secretary of the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board, said that the Sanskrit subject in the last school year from class 3 to class 5 was introduced, but due to difficulties of the children and teachers, an instruction was issued to stop it.
On the other hand, Dr Major Vishal Sharma, secretary of the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board in Dharamshala, said that an order had been issued to stop Sanskrit teaching in all schools in the state.
