Hailing from a small town in Odisha, Rajdeep Mishra has secured the All India Rank 6 in the recently released Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced Results 2024. Furthermore, he appeared for both sessions of JEE Main this year. “I scored 99.98 percentile and secured AIR 95,” said the 17-year-old. Sharing his preparation strategy, Rajdeep says starting early is the key to success. “I started preparing for JEE Main and Advanced early on,” said he. He also joined Unacademy’s coaching classes to crack the IIT entrance exam.

Starting early not only helped him stay ahead of the curve but also secure gold medals in several Olympiads such as the International Junior Science Olympiad in UAE (2021), Junior Science Olympiad in Colombia (2022), and International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics (2023). “Since the age of 14, I have won a lot of olympiads around science and technology. This has been a keen factor for me, which motivated me to go for engineering,” he added.

For now, his goal is to take up Computer Science Engineering at IIT Bombay. “Once I’m there, I plan to explore more topics that are of interest to me. With this, I plan to build my career,” says Rajdeep.

To aspiring JEE Advanced candidates, he said that it is important to trust teachers and “consider them as experienced individuals who can guide you towards success in the exams. It is also important to consult your teachers before making any major decisions regarding your studies to move ahead. Teachers can offer the best guidance for anything related to your studies or academic pursuits, and it’s best to consult them before deciding on anything,” he said.

Rajdeep studied at DGPS School, Kota Rajasthan where he scored 99 per cent in the 10th boards and 98 per cent in the 12th boards. His mother is Namita Mishra and his father, Rajesh Kumar Mishra is working in Gujarat and is part of the Indian Air Force.
