The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has extended the deadline for online applications for the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) 2024. Originally set to close on August 22, the new deadline is now August 26, according to JAC Chairman Anil Mahato. This extension comes in response to technical issues with the JAC portal that prevented candidates from completing their registrations and applications.
For the past two days, candidates have faced significant problems due to the JAC portal being down. Users reported difficulties with online form submission and registration processes and issues with receiving OTPs (one-time passwords) on their mobile phones. Many candidates encountered ‘error 500’ messages from the server, which led to widespread frustration and complaints.
In response to these technical issues, the JAC has decided to extend the application deadline to give all candidates a fair chance to complete their applications. The JAC team is currently working to resolve the technical faults with the portal and improvements to server capacity are expected to be completed by Wednesday evening.
The JTET is being organised for the first time in eight years. The official notification for JTET 2024 was released on July 19, with the application window initially open from July 23 to August 26. Candidates can submit their applications online via the official JAC website. The JTET 2024 will be conducted in two levels: Level 1 for primary stage teachers (classes 1-5) and Level 2 for upper primary stage teachers (classes 6-8). Level 1 will last for 2 hours and 30 minutes, while Level 2 will be 3 hours long. The exam is designed at the class 10+2 level.
Candidates are advised to review the official notification for detailed information. The JTET cut-off marks are the minimum scores required to qualify for the exam and be considered for teaching positions in Jharkhand. For more information, candidates can visit the official JAC website.
