Meerut's CCSU Registrar Asks People To Exercise Caution Amid Rising Cases Of Fake Degrees
At the time of verification when candidates start seeking government jobs, the University recovers hundreds of fake degrees.

Last November, Delhi Police dismantled a fake marksheet racket, resulting in the arrest of two individuals involved in producing forged degrees and certificates from various government and private universities across India. Among the universities most commonly implicated was Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut, which has been a target for groups fabricating degrees to discredit the institution. Numerous similar cases were reported throughout the previous year, showing the prevalence of this fraudulent activity.

Dhirendra Kumar Verma, Registrar of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, highlighted the recurring issue of forged degrees surfacing during the verification process for candidates seeking government positions or roles in multinational corporations. Verma emphasised the importance of thorough research by prospective students, urging them to meticulously examine the websites of universities they plan to attend and familiarise themselves with the institution’s course offerings and curriculum. According to Verma, comprehensive information about any university or institution is readily available on their official websites, serving as essential resources for informed decision-making.

Verma’s remarks follow an incident involving nine nursing students from Moradabad district, Uttar Pradesh, whose degrees were discovered to be fake upon examination by CCSU. Additionally, four individuals working as assistant professors in Bengaluru were found to possess forged degrees purportedly from the same university. Upon being alerted by the vigilance team at CCSU, appropriate measures were taken against the implicated individuals.

Instances of fraudulent degrees have been uncovered in various states including Punjab, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, indicating the widespread nature of this illicit practice.

These developments reflect the urgent need for enhanced vigilance and stringent measures to combat the proliferation of fake degrees, safeguarding the integrity of academic credentials and the credibility of educational institutions nationwide. The fraudsters play a safe game without making any direct contact with the applicants.
