Journalism and cyber security courses are becoming quite popular and sought-after degrees in India. Students, especially from Bihar migrate to metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru to study these courses. But now, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, in Bhagalpur, Bihar is kickstarting courses of journalism, tourism and cybersecurity-related courses.
Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (which was earlier known as Bhagalpur University) is starting a few new courses. The Academic Council Meeting was held in Syndicate Hall and it was decided that the university will start courses in Tourism and Travel Management. The classes of the new course will be organised in the new building of the MBA department. Reportedly, the MBA director has been given the responsibility of taking charge of the course. In the meeting, a proposal was made to start the Master’s course in Cyber Security.
To commence various courses, a consensus was reached and it was decided to conduct self-funded Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) studies under the Science Faculty at BLSC College, Naugachia. University Department of Computer Applications (UDCA) Director, Dr Kamal Prasad proposed to start several short-term courses along with a Master’s in Cyber Security course. This was decided by keeping in view the interest of the students in these courses.
The University’s Academic Council has given a green flag to the syllabus, ordinance and regulations have been made for a two-year PG degree based on the CBCS pattern of Journalism and Mass Communication. It was also decided to send the syllabus, ordinance and regulation to Raj Bhawan for approval.
Vice Chancellor Professor Jawahar Lal has instructed the Co-ordinator of the University’s Journalism and Mass Communication Department, Dr Deepak Kumar Dinkar to assess the journalism courses and facilities being run in Patna University and other colleges in Patna. When the courses kickstart, especially the course of Journalism in Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, it would not only benefit students residing in Bhagalpur but also surrounding places. This will create an opportunity in other Bihar cities as well to come to Bhagalpur and benefit from these emerging popular cases.
