The Civil Service Examination (CSE), conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), is a challenging test for aspirants seeking administrative roles in the Indian government. Despite a career as a Bollywood singer, an IAS officer made a remarkable shift to pursue UPSC. In 1994, he achieved an All India Rank (AIR) 1, showcasing his determination to succeed in the competitive examination.
The name of the IAS officer is Srivatsa Krishna. He was born in Delhi, and since his childhood, he has always had two dreams. One was to become a singer in Bollywood, and the other was to become an IAS officer. He was always a bright student from the beginning, and he went to Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). According to reports, he received full scholarships to study computer science at prestigious US institutes like Stanford University and Yale. However, he gave them up to become an IAS officer, as per his father’s last wish. He also studied at JawaharLal Nehru University and Oxford University. He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Srivatsa Krishna also became the first IAS officer in history to hold an MBA from Harvard.
But his achievements are not just limited to academics. He has also worked as a singer in the Hindi film industry. His dream was always to become a singer, but he had to give up his love for music when he did not take up the offer to sing in a Raj Kapoor film. Srivatsa was given a singing opportunity by music director Ravindra Jain in the film Prem Rog, but he had to leave that offer as his father wanted him to first complete his studies.
But he still managed to get a chance when he sang the Vishnu Sahasranamam Mantra in the famous Bollywood director Dibakar Banerjee’s film Shanghai. As per reports, they both studied at the same college and were rival debaters. It has also been found that AR Rahman had taken his audition for a future project.
