Divyanka Tripathi Recalls FIGHT With 'Banoo Main Teri Dulhann' Co-star: 'My Relationship With the Person…' | Exclusive
Divyanka Tripathi reveals many people 'misguided' her in the beginning of her career. She recalls how a director caused a fight between her and her co-star.

Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya might be one of the top stars in television today, but her journey hasn’t been a bed of roses. An outsider with no industry connections, she managed to bag a lead role in the television show, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, and soon became a household name. And now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Divyanka speaks about her journey and how her director’s ‘bizarre’ suggestion on the show led to a strained equation with her co-star forever.

She says, “There are a lot of people to misguide you in this industry. They come to you with bizarre advice sometimes. In my first show, my character was supposed to have a confrontation with a co-actor onscreen. To make that scene appear authentic, the director actually drove a wedge between us so that we end up having a fight for real.”

The episode left her rather surprised and she hasn’t been able to make amends with her peer even since. “He tried to create a misunderstanding between us. After the scene was filmed, he told us that it was his way of making us do method acting. My relationship with the co-actor remains strained till this day. It was a very twisted way of working. But people do these things,” she rues.

Divyanka is currently gearing up for the release of her new series, Adrishyam: The Invisible Heroes, which is slated for a release on SonyLIV on April 11. The show co-starring Ejaz Khan will see her playing an undercover agent pulling off some high-octane stunts. Last week, she took to social media to share her journey of recovery post her ligament tear surgery. Interestingly, she began shooting for Adrishyam a few weeks after her operation.

Talking about it, the Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Teri Meri Love Stories actor says, “I made sure that I start shooting as per schedule after my surgery and do action sequences. It was a very conscious effort to bounce back to shoot immediately. Two months after my operation, I started shooting. I started doing action sequences another month later.”

She further continues, “It’s difficult only if you tell yourself that it’s difficult. If you treat any critical moment in your career as a journey, you will learn new things. I feel lucky that even at this age after working so much, I get to do so much. It’s truly motivating. I’m glad that I went through that phase and learnt new things. If I didn’t have Adrishyam to shoot for, I wouldn’t have incorporated newer things in my fitness routine.”

Nevertheless, shooting for Adrishyam and getting to do action sequences onscreen for the first time was ‘empowering’ for her. “I also want it to be empowering for other women who think they cannot do anything beyond their comfort zone. But I understand why that happens. Society has conditioned them to believe that they cannot work out beyond a certain age and what they can and cannot do. Until the time we defy these conventions in terms of what’s expected from us, we won’t be able to live life the way we want to,” Divyanka points out.
