Kriti Sanon might not have had a great run at the box office this year but 2023 will always remain special to her. In a first, she won the National Film Award for her performance in Mimi, where she played a young surrogate mother. At the award ceremony that was held in October this year, Kriti’s pictures with Allu Arjun (who was felicitated with the National Film Award for his act in Pushpa: The Rise) striking the signature Pushpa pose went viral on social media with several fans rooting for them to share screen space in a film soon.
And now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Kriti shares that she was beyond elated to have met the south superstar. Talking about how it was the first time she met him, she says, “He’s a fantastic actor. I’ve always admired his work. Meeting him at the ceremony was a first. We had a really warm and great interaction.” Expressing her desire about working with him in the near future, she tells us, “He’s very intelligent and I would love to work with him. We both somewhere hope that something comes along and someone casts us together. I wish that happens soon.”
On the work front, Kriti recently turned producer with a mystery thriller titled Do Patti, the shoot of which is currently underway. The film also stars Kajol and is co-produced by Kanika Dhillon. Apart from this, Kriti will also be headlining Rhea Kapoor’s The Crew co-starring Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Does she find herself organically gravitating towards stories by and for women and she remarks, “I’ve done way too many films which weren’t about women. Having said that, I mostly tend to gravitate towards slightly stronger women characters. If a character is challenging and makes me wonder how I’m going to pull it off, that’s exciting for me.”
Kriti, however, is quick to add that women-led narratives aren’t the only priority for her and points out that she will also be seen in a light-hearted film where she’s the parallel lead alongside Shahid Kapoor. “I also have a film with Shahid, which will release before The Crew and Do Patti. That film is in the rom-com space and will release on February 9 next year. It’s a very quirky love story. So, I like having a mixed bag of films,” she states.
Rumour mills are abuzz that the untitled film produced by Dinesh Vijan will see Shahid playing a scientist and Kriti a robot. Quiz her about the plausibility of the same and she chuckles, “I cannot tell you much about it. Wait for the trailer to come out.” On a related note, News18 Showsha had exclusively reported last year that the robot-themed love story will see Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia reuniting on the big screen after 33 years after Dushman Devta that released in 1991.
