Neelu Vaghela, who became a popular name with Diya Aur Baati Hum, thinks new-age actors should not be overconfident but humble. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Vaghela was asked about one thing that should be changed in the showbiz world when she mentioned how young and aspiring actors should remain grounded.
“I hope things continue to improve, especially for newcomers, as they bring a lot of hope. My advice to them would be to stay grounded, work honestly, and never forget their humanity. Overconfidence can lead to issues, so one must remain humble and sincere in their craft,” she told us.
The 54-year-old actress further argued that even the issue of pay gap in the television world is also changing and therefore, one must pay attention to their characters.
“This debate has been around for a long time, but it depends on mutual understanding and what the concept demands. Sometimes, females are paid more, and sometimes males. It’s all decided based on the understanding between the artist and production, and what the channel is willing to agree upon. Nowadays, people are more focused on the importance of their characters rather than pay scales. If you have a great pay scale but no screen time or character depth, then what good is that? What matters most is the importance of your character and how much of a performance opportunity you’re getting,” she said.
Neelu is now all set to entertain the audiences once again with her new show, Main Dil Tum Dhadkan. The actress will be seen playing the role of Rajeshwari Devi in the show. During our conversation, Neelu also talked about getting on board for Main Dil Tum Dhadkan when she praised the show and shared that it is not a “typical fiery drama”.
“Here, it’s not the typical fiery drama. There’s no chaos at the dining table. What we depict here is grounded in reality. That’s what makes it pleasant,” she told us.
“Our story highlights real incidents, especially concerning young girls. Often, unfortunate events happen, and their lives are ruined. These girls can’t enjoy good things in life afterwards. In some cases, girls as young as 20 or 21 experience such incidents, and their families impose restrictions, telling them that their lives are now over. But the message we are sending is that this shouldn’t be the case. What has happened, has happened, but we need to give these girls opportunities to move forward. Our mindset must evolve,” the actress concluded.
