2023 is proving to be rather eventful for the Khans. Earlier this year, Shah Rukh Khan made a smashing comeback with Pathaan that broke many records and grossed Rs 1050.30 crore at the worldwide box office. His latest release Jawan is also creating a tsunami as it has become the fastest Indian film to cross the Rs 400 crore mark in just 11 days. The superstar’s daughter Suhana Khan is gearing up to make her acting debut this year with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies which is set to premiere on Netflix on December 7.
And now, Aryan Khan is also creating quite a buzz within the industry with ‘Stardom’, his maiden web series which will mark his full-fledged directorial debut. In July this year, the show went on floors and reportedly, it has cameos by Shah Rukh, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar and Bobby Deol. Featuring Lakshya Lalwani in the lead, it is said to be a fictionalised account of the Hindi film industry. And as per a source, the shoot for the series has almost come to a conclusion.
“The team of Stardom is currently shooting for it in Alibaug. The final schedule of the show is slated to happen later this month and with that, Aryan will wrap up the project which he began conceptualising more than a year back. The last leg of the show will be shoot in a multi-cultural centre in Mumbai’s Nariman Point and will feature an elaborate set that will be a replication of a star-studded award function,” the source tells News18 Showsha exclusively.
Stardom will be a six-episode web show where each episode will witness a cameo by a Bollywood A-lister who will play themselves. It was revealed that on its first day of shoot, Shah Rukh visited the set of the show. Our source now says, “A major portion of Stardom was filmed in Dharma Productions which was frequented by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan during the course of the shoot.”
In fact, Stardom doesn’t just mark Aryan’s directorial debut but also has a star kid assisting him with whose family the Khans share a close bond. The source lauds Aryan’s professionalism on the set and adds, “Despite Stardom being his debut vehicle, Aryan has left everyone impressed with his commitment and passion. He is extremely clear of how he envisions his series to look like and is a thorough professional who exactly knows what he expects from the cast members. Word about his competency has reached every nook and corner of the fraternity with many expressing their desire to work with him.”
We reached out to Aryan’s team but they remained unavailable for a comment (at the time of the story being published).
On a related note, Aryan has also written Stardom and is the show runner. In fact, in April this year, he directed his father for a commercial of luxury streetwear brand named D’Yavol X where he also shared screen space with him. Speaking about collaborating with Shah Rukh, Aryan had told Harper’s Bazaar, “Working with my father is never challenging because with his experience and dedication, he makes everyone’s job easier on set. He also makes the entire crew feel at ease and has tremendous respect for everyone. When he’s on set I always make sure to pay extra attention, so I don’t miss out on anything I can learn.”
