Barcelona To Sign Euro 2024 Champions Nico Williams, Dani Olmo This Summer, According Report
Williams has a €58 million release clause in his current contract at Athletic Club and Barcelona are understood to be ready to pay the amount despite their financial struggle over the past few seasons. However, if they also want to sign Olmo as well, the Catalan club may need to some key players.

Barcelona are reportedly working on deals to secure the signing of Nico Williams and Dani Olmo. Both Spanish stars have come under the radar of several European clubs after winning the EURO title earlier this month in Germany. Williams has emerged as a top priority for Barcelona. The 22-year-old winger has a €58 million release clause in his current contract at Athletic Club. Barcelona are understood to be ready to pay the amount despite their financial struggle over the past few seasons. If they want to sign Olmo as well, the Catalan club may need to release a key player from the current team, Gerard Romero reported.

Olmo is almost confirmed to part ways with RB Leipzig this summer. The German outfit included a release clause of €60 million in his contract but Barcelona missed the deadline of triggering it. Olmo is contracted to stay at Leipzig till 2027. In this situation, the club can now demand more value for the Spanish forward. According to a report by Romero, Barça’s interest is strong enough that the club is willing to part ways with a key member of the current squad to fund a move for Olmo.

Apart from Barcelona, Premier League sides Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have kept their eyes on Olmo following his impressive performance at the 2024 EURO. The La Liga giants submitted their initial bid for Olmo before his release clause deadline would expire. The offer which reportedly featured a six-year contract was rejected by RB Leipzig.

According to a report by Marca, Barcelona sporting director Deco recently met Olmo’s agents Juanma Lopez and Andy Bara. They sat together at a restaurant and the meeting lasted for more than two hours.

Amid all of these, RB Leipzig are known to be in a hurry to offload Olmo. A recent report by Sport claimed that the Bundesliga club is pushing Barcelona to make their final decision. Leipzig are interested in signing Portugal forward Francisco Conceicao, who is seen as a perfect replacement for Olmo.

Barcelona are keen to revamp the squad this summer as their newly appointed boss Hansi Flick wants match winners in the team. In an interview with the club, the German manager said, “We have to bring in a player who can win games, but we also have young players who we have to help so that they can improve. We want to give everything we have to take this club to the next level. We will do everything possible,” as quoted by Goal.com.

Flick will be able to assess the strength of the team when Barcelona face Manchester City in a pre-season friendly on July 31.
