Former England defender Micah Richards has made a sensational revelation while reminiscing about his time at the Olympic village in London back in 2012. Richards, who won the Premier League with Manchester City, claimed that athletes led a very active sexual lifestyle in the Olympic Village. While speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Richards told co-hosts Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer that there was even a “massive big room full of condoms.”

He said, “It was the party of all parties. You got all the different athletes, all sorts of different specimens in there. Absolutely everything was there, we had McDonalds there, a Chinese, a big cafeteria with everything you want, it’s free. It’s what I imagine when you go to uni when you’re in halls and sharing a room, I was with Daniel Sturridge. We were there for three nights, we went training, come back to the village, them three nights we were up to 4 am.”

“You have different campuses, Team GB in one block, Brazil, France, all these countries, and there’s a massive big room full of condoms! It was like what, obviously promoting safe sex, and honest to god, I was on fire. I was on absolute fire, honestly. I was a little slimmer, a bit more ripped, bit more lean, it was summer time, walking around with my top off. There was multiple gold medals. One of the best times of my life, it was incredible.” recalled Richards.

Having qualified as one of the under-23 players for manager Stuart Pearce, Richards was selected for the Great Britain football squad for the 2012 Olympics, played on home soil. The star-studded Great Britain team, featuring big names like Ryan Giggs, Daniel Sturridge, Craig Bellamy and Aaron Ramsey, reached the quarter-finals of the 2012 Olympics. Great Britain’s terrific run, however, came to an end in the quarter-finals after they were beaten by South Korea on penalties.

Richards kicked off his football career at Leeds United, where he played in the Academy. Later, he moved to Oldham Athletic for one year and in 2001 Richards switched to Manchester City’s Academy. Richards signed his first professional contract with Manchester City back in 2005. Richard made his first-team debut in October 2005 against Arsenal.
