Thiruvananthapuram: Churchill Brothers Goa defeated Chirag United Kerala 2-1 in the I-League Football tournament at the University Stadium here on Wednesday.
At half time, both team were locked 1-1. Anil Kumar scored for Chirag in the 26th minute through a header off an Asif pass. Churchill equalised in the 45th minute through Henri Arnaud Authchouet who fed on an Opara Ndubuisi move.
Churchill Brothers consolidated in the second half, exploiting defence lapses of Chirag and scored through substitute Mohammed Rafi Madambikillat in the 74th minute, who came in place of Gouramangi Mourangthe.
Lenny Roorogues of Churchill won the Man-of-the-Match award.
Churchcill Brothers with 20 points from nine matches are in second spot in the League, while Chirag United with five are in 12th place.
