Manchester: Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has urged in-demand Eden Hazard to reject an offer from rivals Manchester City in favour of a move to Old Trafford.
Lille’s Belgian attacker is one of the hottest properties in European football, and is said to be weighing up offers from both Manchester clubs, as well as newly-crowned European champions Chelsea.
And United leftback Evra is in no doubt over which destination Hazard should choose, cheekily suggesting that Alex Ferguson’s team offer a better chance of silverware than their city rivals.
“I’m not his father but, if he comes to Manchester, I assure him that he will win titles,” Evra told Manchester Evening News. “That’s if he joins my Manchester, not the Blue side.”
Hazard himself has given little indication as to his preferred club of the trio, but stated that he is looking to move to a team that will allow him to play in his favoured playmaker role.
“I scored 20 league goals, also had the most assists in the league, and I never believed I could possibly come up with such a fantastic set of statistics,” he said before Belgium’s 2-2 friendly draw with Montenegro.
“Certainly I could not have made such a decisive contribution had the coach at Lille not changed my position. It is all down to that. I have always dreamed of playing the No. 10 role and wearing that number on my back, and you can see what a difference it makes from how many goals I have scored and set up for others."
“That will be a consideration when I decide on my club. Where I will play will influence my thinking on who I should join."
