New Delhi: Adriano recently agreed to mutually rescind his contract with Inter. The player, believed to be suffering from depression, is taking a break from football, perhaps permanently. Nonetheless, he has been linked with a move to a number of sides.
His agent, Gilmar Rinaldi, has ruled out that the player will return to Europe and has now denied any deal with Flamengo. However, the striker himself has shown a compelling interest to join the side where he began his career, should he decide to return to football.
"The desire I have to play for Flamengo is absurd," the ex-Parma star told the Globoesporte on Tuesday, also making it clear that he has not decided if and when he will put his boots back on.
Adriano had a troubled year with Inter, often facing the discipline of coach Jose Mourinho. Overall, he found the net seven times for the club this season with the effectiveness of his performances varying dramatically.
On Monday, his agent reiterated that the 27-year-old will not return to football immediately.
