England: Manchester United have spent a reported 40 million pounds ($62 million) to bolster their midfield with the signings of Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger and France international Morgan Schneiderlin.
United announced on Monday that Schweinsteiger has signed a three-year deal after leaving Bayern Munich, where he spent the first 17 years of his career.
Minutes later, the 20-time English champions said the 25-year-old Schneiderlin has joined from Southampton on a four-year contract, with the option of another year.
The transfer fees weren't disclosed but British media reported Schweinsteiger cost about 15 million pounds ($23 million) and Schneiderlin about 25 million pounds ($39 million).
United have already signed Italy right back Matteo Darmian and Netherlands winger Memphis Depay this offseason.
