Kylian Mbappe refrained from commenting on his ongoing wage issues with former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 25-year-old completed a highly anticipated move earlier this season that saw him leave the French capital for Spain on a free transfer. Amid the ongoing international break, Mbappe was asked about his unpaid wages at PSG. The French superstar dodged the question by replying that he only had good things to say about his former side. “Issues with PSG on salary? I’ve only positive things to say about PSG, I wish them all the best,” he said as per multiple outlets.
It was earlier reported this summer that PSG had not paid Kylian Mbappe a portion of his annual wage and bonuses. The primary motive behind this salary blockage, reportedly, was to prevent Mbappe from leaving the club on a free transfer. But the French star had already made up his mind to join his dream club Real Madrid. The Los Blancos announced Mbappe’s arrival towards the beginning of June. The 25-year-old had penned down a five-year contract that bound him at the Spanish capital until 2029.
As for the salary situation, Kylian Mbappe’s mother Fayza Lamari also had some words to share on the topic. She spoke to La Parisien about the issue and claimed it still had not been resolved. “It’s still going on. It’s now in the hands of Kylian’s representatives. But I trust PSG that things will get back to normal very quickly. We just received a response letter from them. Decisions will be made. Sometimes, during separations, you have to decide who gets the TV, keeps the furniture or the car… That’s where we are. I hope that all this won’t tarnish everything we’ve experienced,” she said, as per multiple sources.
Before dodging the salary questions, Kylian Mbappe talked about his arrival in LaLiga in the same interview. Prior to claiming he had no grievances against PSG, the Frenchman showed his excitement about his recent results with Real Madrid. As per DailySports, he said, “It’s going very well with Real Madrid. We’ve already won a trophy!” Mbappe scored his first two goals in the Spanish top flight against Real Betis. He went goalless in the previous three matches for the Los Blancos. He also helped Real Madrid beat Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup scoring a goal to win his first trophy at the club.
Kylian Mbappe recently endured a 1-3 defeat to Italy in the 2024 Nations League. He is next set to feature in France’s upcoming game against Belgium at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on September 10.
