The Swede has been sacked after just ten months in the job.
The Mexican Football Federation have confirmed that Sven-Goran Eriksson has been sacked as Mexico coach after a string of bad results, culminating in defeat to Honduras on Thursday.
The Swede didn't even last a year in the job but results during his time in charge have meant that Mexico are in danger of not reaching the World Cup.
Directors from the Mexican Federation were set to meet on Friday to discuss his future but they have instead held a press conference today and announce his departure.
The move has been instigated after the latest 3-1 defeat to Honduras which leaves Mexico in trouble in the group at the moment.
Whilst they have won every home game so far, they have been poor on their travels and find themselves in fourth place.
If they finish in that position they will have to play-off against the side that finishes fifth in the South American group and that will be a tough test for the Mexicans.
The fans will no doubt be hoping that a new coach takes over soon and manages to turn things around and lead them to South Africa.
One man who has been linked with the job in the past is Javier Aguirre, who coached Mexico for a year, before leaving to go to Spain.
After being fired by Atletico Madrid he is likely to be one of the favourites to take over again but he will have competition for the post.
