Theo reveals Thierry Henry intimidation
Walcott says he joined Arsenal due to Wenger's reputation for grooming talent.

New Delhi: Theo Walcott has admitted that when he first arrived at Arsenal he was intimidated by his idol Thierry Henry.

Arsene Wenger signed three players in the January window in 2006 and each was supposed to be a like for like replacement for an outgoing great.

Emmanuel Adebayor was hailed as the replacement for former Gunner Nwankwo Kanu; Abou Diaby was supposed to fill the void left by Patrick Vieira; and Theo Walcott was billed as the next Thierry Henry.

Walcott stated that one of the reasons he joined Arsenal was for Wenger's reputation for grooming talent, and also to learn off his idol Henry.

Theo though was intimidated by the French legend's presence.

"He's a brilliant player, a brilliant man to be around, but when I first started I thought I have to pass to him because he's the top man," the 19-year old told the Telegraph.

"You can't play well in every game, it's impossible," Walcott added.

"I've got a brilliant manager who doesn't want to burn me out. I can improve my heading – I could score four goals a season just getting on the back post. I need to work on my left foot as well."
