Amber Heard's In The Fire Director Praises Her Strength After Losing Defamation Case
Amber Heard has chosen to move beyond the controversies and build a better life in Europe.

Amber Heard’s highly publicized defamation trial with former husband Johnny Depp grabbed a lot of attention between April and May last year. The trial became a viral sensation, as the internet was flooded with trial clips and people took sides in the legal battle. While some believed the Pirates of the Caribbean star was the victim, Amber found herself with fewer supporters. Fast forward to today, the Aquaman actress has chosen to move beyond the controversies of her past and quietly relocated to Spain. She has now built a better life in Europe and cares for her two-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige.

Meanwhile, Conor Allyn, the director of Heard’s upcoming film, In The Fire, recently assured her fans that she is doing well and shared insights about her life away from the media spotlight.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Conor said, “She’s living her best life in Spain with her daughter and just finding happiness in that way.” The director further claims that Heard has moved on from the high profile legal battle with Johnny. However, Allyn feels that such traumatic experiences stays for longer time and adds, “Having gone through something like that on a global epic scale, you never just put that in a suitcase and stick it in the attic and never see it again.”

Although In The Fire is set 130 years in the past, Conor Allyn highlighted that her character shares many similar qualities with Amber Heard. He described her character as “a fearless truth-teller who comes to this remote valley and preaches a certain set of beliefs and is not believed.” In real life, he sees the actress as a fearless truth-teller who remains committed to her opinions, despite the challenges she faces. According to Allyn, it’s not a coincidence that Heard felt a strong connection to this character when she read the script.

“She’s had that public backlash. I mean, sure it hit a global apex during the televised trial. But she’s been receiving a lot of public backlash since the day she filed for divorce. She’s been going through that for years,” the filmmaker added.

Conor Allyn had a wonderful experience working with Amber Heard on their film, In The Fire. He praised her dedication to her work and stated that making an independent movie is a very challenging process. He values having team members who are committed to the project, passionate about their work and not just motivated due to their paycheck. “It’s like, ‘I’m out here to prove myself. I’m out here to do something special.’ That’s totally Amber and so I’d love to work with her on more stuff,” he adds.

Apart from In the Fire, Amber Heard is set to reprise her character as Mera in the upcoming DC movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom featuring Jason Momoa, which is scheduled to release in December.
