Daniel Radcliffe On Embracing Fatherhood: ‘Really Enjoyed The Initial Months'

Daniel Radcliffe embraced fatherhood earlier this year as he welcomed a baby boy with his longtime partner Erin Darke. The duo has not been very social about the new phase in their lives with their fans, but time and again, the actor spoke to news portal about his child. Recently, as the actor appeared on the show Today With Hoda and Jenna, he candidly discussed the changes in life after his son was born. The Harry Potter star opened up about the fact that he is in “awe” of the first six months he spent with his son.

Daniel Radcliffe revealed, “It’s awesome. I think a lot of people said, like, ‘Just get through the first six months, then after that, it gets better,’ but I’ve kind of really enjoyed the first six months. He added, “I don’t know what I imagined, honestly, but it’s great. He’s incredible, and I’m just, like, in awe.”

Earlier this month, Daniel Radcliffe shared about the pros and cons of parenting with E! News. He told the portal, “He’s great, it’s amazing. There’s a short answer and a long answer to that. And the short answer is it’s awesome and he’s the best thing that’s ever happened.” The actor continues, saying, “The long version? “It’s frankly terrifying to have a human being in the world that I care this much about, and that everything he does is going to affect how I feel about my life for the rest of my life. So, you know, that’s intimidating.”

Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke have been dating since 2012, when they met on the set of Kill Your Darlings. The news of the pregnancy was confirmed while she was in the last stages in March of this year, and she gave birth the following month. In July, the actor had spoken about the new phase in his life and the efforts he is making to spend time with his child. “It’s great. It’s crazy and intense, but he’s wonderful, and Erin is amazing — it’s a real privilege also to have this time with him. I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, and so I’m able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely. We’re having a great time,” the actor told Entertainment Weekly.

He further told the portal that he loves spending time with his son and would miss him once he resumes work. Daniel Radcliffe stated, “I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years.”
