Matthew Perry Dies at 54: Friends Star's Alleged Cause of Death Revealed
Matthew Perry, known to play Chandler on Friends, has reportedly died at the age of 54.

Matthew Perry died at the age of 54. The actor was best known for playing Chandler in Friends, a popular American sitcom. The shocking news of his death was first reported by TMZ followed by Los Angeles Times. As per reports, Matthew was found dead at his LA home on Saturday evening, October 28. It is reported that he was found dead in his jacuzzi at home. Initial reports claim that he died of apparent drowning. An official statement about Matthew’s cause of death is yet to be made by the LA Police or the family.

As reported by NY Post, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed a man in his 50s died at Matthew’s address. However, they refused to confirm the identity. They said in a statement: “We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 p.m. this afternoon. He was in his 50s.” No sign of foul play and no drugs were found at the scene. It has been reported that the first responders were called in to the residence for cardiac arrest.

Matthew, son of actor John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Marie Langford, was born in 1969 and grew up in Canada and LA. He began his career as a child actor, securing guest roles on “Charles in Charge” and “Beverly Hills 90210,” while also co-starring with River Phoenix in the movie “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon” during the 1980s and early 1990s. However, his major breakthrough arrived with his role in “Friends” and became an international star over the years. His character, Chandler, is still loved by all. Matthew shared the screen with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Schwimmer in the show.

The actor has also battled addiction to alcohol and opioids, and sought help for the same for years by admitted himself to rehab multiple times. He had admitted that he doesn’t remember shooting three seasons of the show. In 2018, Matthew spent five months in the hospital after a colon rupture. One of his last appearances on the screen was in 2021 when Matthew joined the cast of Friends for a special reunion episode and revisited several iconic moments from the show.
