Getting Wheat

Purchase Wheat Starts from Leif. Leif has wheat starts available for purchase for 280 Bells for one, or 1400 Bells for five. His stock refreshes every Monday, so if he is out of wheat starts, you will need to wait until after he gets more in stock to buy more wheat stocks. Leif can be found outside the Resident Services building once a week. He is available from 5 AM to 10 PM local time. Leif can also be found permanently at Harv's Island. You can travel there by talking to Orville at the Dodo Airlines airport. You will need to bring 100,000 Bells the first time you travel there. You will find a Gyroid that wants funding for botany experts. Talk to the Gyroid and donate 100,000 Bells. Leif and his services will be available the following day.

Plant the wheat starts. Once you have wheat starts, find a suitable location to plant them on your island. Water them daily in order to produce more wheat. It will take approximately 3 to 4 days for the wheat starts to produce collectible wheat. It will take the same wheat starts approximately 2 days to produce wheat after the first harvest. Alternatively, there is a small chance you may find wheat already grown on the island you reach when you take Kapp'n's Boat Tour. However, this is not guaranteed.

Getting Flour

Collect wheat. You need 5 wheat to craft flour or 10 bags of wheat to craft whole-wheat flour. Once the wheat from the starts has fully matured, harvest the wheat.

Buy the "Be a Chef! DIY Recipes+." It can be purchased from Nook Stop in the Resident Services building. It costs 3,000 Nook Miles. This will unlock the ability to craft flour as well as unlock other food and drink items you can craft. To be able to craft whole wheat flour, you'll need to purchase the "Basic Cooking Recipes" DIY set from Nook's Cranny for 4,980 Bells.

Craft or buy a kitchen. Various kitchens can be purchased from Nook's Cranny. The "Be a Chef! DIY Recipes+" also comes with a recipe for crafting a stonework kitchen, which requires 30 stone, 15 clay, and 10 iron nuggets. Once you have purchased or crafted a kitchen, find a suitable place to put it in our house.
