Turn on some music. This is optional, but if you find yourself bored easily, it may help. Just make sure you don't get distracted.

Take away any distractions. This is also optional, but it helps. A way to do this is to take something circular, like a hula hoop. Put everything you can't touch in; the hoop will be a reminder that you are not supposed to touch these things. Try not to touch your phone, but if you are using music, you might want to keep it out of the hoop.

Make your bed. This is usually a fairly simple task, but it can make a room look much cleaner. Consider washing your sheets, too, if they look especially dirty.

Put all of the dirty clothes into the hamper. Pile all the clean clothes on your bed to fold later. Make sure you don't mix up your clean clothes and your dirty clothes.

Fold your clothes and put them in your dresser. Do this neatly so that when you need them, you don't have to look everywhere.

Take everything and put them on your bed. Pick up the first thing that catches your eye and put it on your bed, repeating until you're finished.

Clean your windows if you have them. You can do this with any type of window cleaner, such as Windex. It's surprising how much fresher this can make a room feel.

Tackle the pile on your bed. If anything in that pile is broken, throw it away. If there are scraps of food, throw it away. If there is any stuff you don't want but is still valuable, give it to charity or a brother/sister.

Vacuum your room. This will remove the dust, wrappers, and other stuff that is too small and tedious to pick up and throw away.

Check under your bed. Most likely, you'll find long lost toys, disgusting food, and probably things that you didn't even know existed. Sort through these as you did with the previous things.
