How to Make Conversation Heart Infused Vodka
How to Make Conversation Heart Infused Vodka
Probably one of the first holiday treats a kid gives to their classmates and crushes are a small box of conversation hearts during Valentine's Day. As an adult, it can equally be embraced and shared -- in vodka.
Ingredients

Find a suitable container or jug. Remember that you'll need room for the amount of candy and vodka. If you're making a small batch, a quart sized Tupperware container is doable. Larger batches may require several wide-mouthed mason jars.

Measure your conversation hearts. Add each color to their own container.

Measure the vodka. Pour about 1/2 cup of vodka on top of every 20 hearts.

Securely tighten the lid. Jiggle the container around so that the contents can mix together a little.

Allow the hearts to dissolve for 15 minutes. Assist the process by shaking the containers every now and again.

Strain the mixture. You will want to get all the solids and sugars separated from the liquor as much as possible. If you don't have a metal strainer, a simple cheesecloth or coffee filter will do. Repeat straining after all sugars have been strained.

Store the mixture. If you're not using this immediately, chill it in the refrigerator until needed.
