Zork is a text based computer game that runs on MS-DOS. It is considered to be one of the early ancestors of today's interactive role playing video games. Here are the steps on how to play Zork.

Steps

Download Zork. You can download different versions for your PC, Mac, or Linux computers at various sites online.

Unzip the file. The downloaded file is a zip file. Hence, you have to unzip it. Use Winzip or free 7-Zip to unzip your files.

Read the instructions. In the unzipped folder you can find an instruction file named 'Readme'. Read the text document for instructions on the game play.

Launch the game. On the same folder you can find an MS-DOS Application file name ZORK1. Double-click that. Upon launching you will find a black command screen, which is the game.

Give commands. The game is played by typing commands such as 'take bottle', 'open window', or 'read book'. To move, simply type a compass direction, or just its first letter. 'Northwest' would be nw, etc.

Save the game. To save game, type 'save' into the game and it will ask the name for the file to which the game is to be saved. Type the file name you want.
