Log in to the website containing the page you want to protect as an administrator. MediaWiki software only allows administrators (also called sysops) to protect pages. If you are not an administrator, then you can request an administrator to protect the page for you.
Navigate to the page you want to protect. You can enter a page you want to protect on the search box of the wiki site.
Click on the 'Protect' option from the administrator menu. The location of this menu can vary depending on what skin the website is using, but it is usually located next to the edit and history buttons. If it is hidden, append ?action=protect to the URL.
Choose the edit protection level. This will set who can make edits to the page. This automatically changes to a lower level when the move protection level is changed below it. There are three options by default: OFF, semi protection, and full protection, though the wiki may have more or less levels depending on how it was configured. Semi protection prevents unregistered users from making edits to the page, while allowing established users to make edits. Full protection prevents anyone except administrators from making edits to the page.
Set the move protection level. Like the edit protection level, the move protection level sets who can move the page. This automatically changes to a higher level when the edit protection level is changed above it.
Turn on cascade protection. This is only available when the page is fully protected. This prevents templates that are transcluded on the page from being edited or moved as well except by administrators. This setting should only be used when there is a high risk of disruption to the page and its templates.
Click the confirm button once you are done setting up protection options. This will apply the protection levels to the page that you just set.
