Be ready for a surprise. The exact dates that meteor showers take place aren't clear ahead of time, so you have to act quickly if you see an announcement. When a meteor shower is expected, you will see a message on the bulletin board. The bulletin board is found to the left of the train station. If there is a new message, a bird will be sitting on top of it (a yellow bird during the day, an owl at night). The message will appear on the day they are expected.
Look out for the weather and the time. If the weather is clear between 10AM and 11AM, a note might appear on the town's signboard announcing a meteor shower. Meteor showers occur between 7PM and 4AM. "Clear" means that there is no precipitation on that day, such as rain or snow.
Wish on a star. When a meteor shower is happening, stars will occasionally fly across the sky when you look up. To wish on one, press the Up button on the D-pad (the cross-shaped button on your DS) and wait for a star to appear. Press A when you hear one twinkle, and if you time it right, the star will make a sparkling noise and shine brighter. You cannot have anything in your hands to wish on a star. The next day, you'll get a letter from Wishy with a present attached. Wishy will always send a piece of furniture that is a spotlight item from the Nooklings' store.
