Batting maestro Virat Kohli made a sensational start to the ODI World Cup with an 85-run knock against Australia in India’s opening match of the tournament on Sunday. He rescued India from a tricky situation alongside KL Rahul (97*) as the Men in Blue started their campaign on a high with a 6-wicket victory.

Meanwhile, it was Kohli’s entry while coming out to bat to the theme song of the upcoming Tamil thriller Leo’ which created a buzz on the internet. During the second innings of their match, India lost early wickets leading to Kohli arriving on the pitch. A clip of him gracing the field to the aforementioned song has been doing rounds on the Internet. The video was uploaded to platform X by a fan and it read, “THE ENTRY OF KING. India proved to be the better team in their opening World Cup game against Australia on October 8. After losing the toss to the Aussies, the Men in Blue were set to field first. Chepauk’s cricket pitch favoured the spinners heavily, helping Ravindra Jadeja pick up three wickets in the game. Kuldeep Yadav was also phenomenal as he scalped the wickets of David Warner and Glenn Maxwell. Thanks to the bowling heroics, India were able to dismiss the entire Australian side towards the end of the first innings leaving a 199-run target to chase.

In the second innings, India were shocked by the early departures of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. All three players left on a duck leaving India’s tally at two runs while losing three wickets in the second over. However, Kohli and Rahul stepped up for the nation, stitching a brilliant partnership in the game. Virat scored 85 runs in 116 balls while belting eight boundaries in the match. He later lost his wicket to Josh Hazlewood in the 38th over. KL finished the game for India with a maximum which left his tally at 97 runs in 115 balls.

India will take on Afghanistan next at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11. The hosts will be looking to continue their brilliant run against Afghanistan as they seek a playoff spot once again.
