11 MLAs of Opposition TDP have been suspended for stalling the proceedings of the House.

New Delhi: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly is fast gaining reputation of being increasinly indisciplined.

First it was the furore over Chief Minister Y S R Reddy allegedly gagging the media by “targeting” media magnate Ramoji Rao that stalled the House and now 11 MLAs of Opposition TDP have suspended for indiscipline.

The MLAs were suspended for stalling the proceedings of the House over reports that one of Reddy's relatives had purchased some amount of land allegedly by force from the 'poor'.

The latest suspension orders come a day after leader of the state Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu and 25 other TDP members were suspended for two days.

The trouble began as soon as the House assembled and the erring MLAs resorted to slogan shouting against the CM.

Slamming the “undemocratic” government, the members pressed for an immediate discussion on the issue.

Earlier, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy had disallowed their adjournment motion notice on the issue.

The House was initially adjourned for 15 minutes when Speaker couldn’t see another way out.

But even after the House reassembled, TDP members rushed to the well of the House and raised slogans demanding protection for lands of the poor from 'private armies'.

The Speaker summoned the marshalls who bodily lifted the TDP members staging a sit-in protest against the reported acquisition of 140 acres of lands from the poor.

They alleged it was done by force and at a throw-away price by the Chief Minister's brother-in-law and Kadapa Municipal Corporation Mayor Ravindra Reddy in Denduluru in West Godavari district, for a fertiliser factory at a cost of Rs 150 crore.
