New Delhi: The Supreme Court decision on senior advocate RK Anand in the 1999 BMW hit-and-run case is expected on Monday.
Anand was found guilty of contempt of court charges last week for trying to influence Sunil Kulkarni, a key witness in the case.
The court had asked him to either pay Rs 20 lakhs to the Delhi Legal Aid Services or provide free legal service to poor people.
The court could impose a higher punishment of six month imprisonment on Anand. He was barred from practising law.
Pleading that he had been rendering free service to litigants and that he had already tendered an unqualified apology, he had sought permission from the apex court to get back to legal practice.
But the court asked him to choose between the two options and get back in a week.
