HYDERABAD: Police on Monday arrested two persons who went on a pilgrimage to North India after stealing Rs 54 lakh from the office of a private firm at Afzalgunj more than a month back. Police have already recovered Rs 40 lakh from one of the accused while another Rs 11 lakh was recovered on Monday from the two main accused.
The theft took place in the Nava Durga Bullion Corporation owned by Ravinder Agarwal at Ghansi Bazar Jhool on October 5. The main accused is Bal Kishan Maali, a resident of Shamsheergunj, who is an employee in the firm. As Bal Kishan was having financial problems, his friend P Rakesh Kumar, an auto driver from Aliabad suggested him to steal money from his employer.On October 5, Ravinder Agarwal asked Bal Kishan to come to the SBI branch at Koti along with Rs 54 lakh cash. Bal Kishan along with Agarwal's son, Deepak Agarwal started on a scooter to Koti and in the meantime informed Rakesh about his plan to steal the amount. Rakesh followed the duo in an auto. After reaching the Sultan Bazar traffic police station, Bal Kishan intentionally let his sandal slip and asked Deepak to bring it. As Deepak got down to pick it up, Bal Kishan sped away with the cash.
