26/11: Pak panel to record witnesses' statements
key accused Lakhvi's lawyer demanded the right to cross examine four Indian witnesses, which the court rejected.

Mumbai: The visiting Pakistani judicial commission on 26/11 will record the statements of three witnesses on Saturday, including the Chief Investigating Officer. This came a day after a heated argument. The lawyer of key accused Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi demanded the right to cross examine the four Indian witnesses, which the court rejected.

The demand is a clear change in stand and so questions are being asked on whether this is a strategy to weaken the case.

Pakistani government officials have said that recording statements without cross examinations will go against the prosecution of the trial against the seven accused in Pakistan.

The trial of the seven Pakistani suspects, including Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, has stalled for over a year due to various technical reasons.
