35-yr-old attempts to immolate self at PS

HYDERABAD: A 35-yearold man arrested on suspicion of killing his wife, attempted to immolate himself at Maheshwaram police station on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. Mohammed Mazhar of Nagaram village in Maheshwaram under Cyberabad Commissionerate limits, was married to Zarina Begum. Due to alleged family problems, Zarina set herself afire on August 8 and died on August 12 while undergoing treatment. Zarina’s family members lodged a complaint with the police alleging that she might have been murdered.Police held Mazhar and also seized the can of kerosene which was used by Zarina to kill herself. On Sunday, Mazhar managed to get the can and set himself ablaze at the police station. He was rushed to Osmania General Hospital.His condition is said to be critical.
