The National Investigation Agency in January 2016 arrested 13 suspected Islamic State operatives and during investigation unravelled their sinister plan for India. Four out of the arrested operatives are highly qualified and have held very respectable jobs in top private firms.
Muddabbir Sheikh is a commerce graduate from a private college in Mumbai. He has completed web programming course from a local computer institute and worked as a computer teacher for two years. He has worked as web designer, flash developer and product development manager.
Another suspected operative is Md. Afzal, who has done diploma in electrical and electronics engineering from a private institute in Bengaluru. He has worked as apprentice in BHEL, Bengaluru from 1999-2000 and a component engineer for a private firm.
He was a line leader and quality engineer in subsequent jobs. He was the project leader in a private company in Bengaluru.
An arrested suspect Abu Anas holds Masters degree in Computer application from Jaipur National University. He is an expert in ethical hacking.

He also introduced other operatives to 'signal' chat, used by Edward Snowden, which cannnot be easily monitored by security agencies. 'Signal' used to discuss ISIS related activities in India and 'parinda ud gaya' was the code used to describe someone who had left the country.

Another suspect Md. Abdul Ahad holds Bachelor's degree in Physics & PG Diploma in Computer Science. He was a computer programmer for several private companies.
He has worked in Singapore, Saudi Arabia, UAE. In 1998, he moved to Chicago and was working for a private company. In 2004, he moved to Dallas, Texas, and spent 11 years in the US before moving to Sharjah.
In 2013, he moved to Hyderabad to work in private firm. The ISIS operatives asked for IT help but he refused it.
