45 firms qualify in technical bids

CHENNAI: As many as 45 companies have qualified in the technical bid for supplying fans, mixies and grinders under the scheme to distribute these kitchen utensils free of cost to the needy. The tenders quoted by these companies would be opened soon.Of the 55 companies that have submitted the technical bids, as many as 45 were chosen on Tuesday.Government authorities examined the production capacity, their annual turnover and the quality of their products. Over 30 committees visited the companies to inspect the quality of their products and had submitted their reports. Besides, Central government authorities had also tested the sample products of these companies.Since two or three companies have submitted their tenders together, there would not be any delay in the procurement of mixies, fans and grinders for distribution to the needy. Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will be launching the scheme on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C N Annadurai, on September 15.
