More than half of the government employees, 55.77 per cent, turned up for work on the day of the general strike called by the Left wing service organisations, claimed Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan here on Tuesday.
“In the Government Secretariat, 45 per cent employees were present for work and at the Assembly Secretariat, the attendance was 65 per cent. 58 per cent employees turned up for work in Kerala University and 47 per cent at the Kerala Public Service Commission,” the Home Minister told a press meet.
In the courts here, 70 per cent employees came for work. At the Law Secretariat, the attendance was 60.6 per cent and at the Finance Secretariat, it was 86.7 per cent. The KSRTC operated 2,608 services out of the regular 4,900 services.
“Arrangements have been made to prevent violence during the CPM’s proposed siege to the Secretariat and the District Collectorates on Wednesday,” the Minister said.
