9-year-old Guwahati Girl Chants Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali In Record Time
Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali is a compilation of the 108 names of Lord Shiva.

Anushakti Das, a student from Guwahati, has made her name in the India Book of Records 2024 by reciting the Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali in 3 minutes and 39 seconds. For those who don’t know about Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali, it is a compilation of the 108 names of Lord Shiva. Reciting these names is one way to invoke the blessings of Lord Mahadeva. According to Local 18 Assam, Anushakti studies in class 5th and is 9 years old. She studies in Mohghar Lower Primary School No 2. Anushakti can effortlessly recall and chant the names of Lord Shiva which makes her parents and teachers proud of her accomplishment.

Not only the Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali, Anushakti has been learning to sing different religious songs for a long time. The Guwahati girl’s mother has been instrumental in teaching the girl these bhajans. These bhajans include the Durga Saptashati Durgashtottara Shatanama Stotram and Shri Krishna Ashtottara Shatanamavali. Other spiritual chants include Mahishasura Mardini Stotram and Hanuman Chalisa.

Besides chanting these songs, Anushakti also exhibits a keen interest in singing and dancing. She can also perform the Yogasanas with perfection and has participated in the yoga day as an instructor at her school. The principal of the school also talked highly of her accomplishments and said that she is performing well in her studies. The Guwahati girl has been bestowed with a medal, pen and certificate by the India Book of Records 2024. In the Local 18 visual, Anushakti can be heard chanting the Shiva Ashtottara Shatanamavali at a rapid speed. She didn’t forget the stotra at one point and kept on reciting it, breaking for just a few pauses in between.

The India Book of Records has been the curator of Indian Records since 2006. The book recently marked its 19th year of publication. Chief Editors from record books of seven nations (Vietnam, Malaysia, USA, Nepal, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Thailand) are its board members. India Book of Records holders get nominated for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Award. The Government of India has been conferring this award to children for their exceptional achievements.
