New Delhi: Underworld don Abu Salem has been produced before the Tees Hazari court in Delhi in connection with a 2002 extortion case.
Although a chargesheet had been filed against Salem, he had not been issued its copy. Salem was produced in court so that he could get a duplicate copy.
The court has remanded him to Mumbai Police custody, but he will once again have to appear before the same court on December 12.
Of the nine cases against Salem, three were registered in Delhi.
Last Thursday, the one-time don spent a "quiet and reflective" eighth 'wedding' anniversary in Arthur Road Jail. Salem alleges that he is married to starlet Monica Bedi of Bigg Boss 2 fame at a mosque in Los Angeles in November 2000. The actress, however, denies having tied the nuptial knot.
The only guest on this day for extradited gangster, being tried for 1993 serial Mumbai bomb blast, was his lawyer Raja Thakur.
Salem had allegedly been reading letters and greeting cards sent to him by Monica since 2001.
The one-time starlet has stuck to her position that she was never married to Salem and maintained in several media interviews that though she knew the underworld don for several years, they had never got married.
