PUDUCHERRY : Oil companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporations Limited (HPCL ) have agreed to provide additional loads of LPG exclusively to Puducherry to meet the shortage, within a period of 10 days, said Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Friday. This follows a meeting by the director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs with the sales managers of IOC, HPCL and Bharat Petroleum (BP) and dealers of all gas agencies on April 11 in Puducherry to address the issue. “It is expected that the situation will be back to normal soon and consumers will not have difficulty in getting cylinders,” said RangasamyTo streamline existing issues related to distribution, LPG dealers had been advised to follow certain guidelines uniformly so that the public were not put to inconvenience.  They had been advised to display on the notice board, a list of consumers to whom cylinders had been dispatched and strictly follow the order of seniority in booking while supplying cylinders to customers, the CM said. “After the delivery slip/bill is generated, the consumer should receive the LPG cylinder within five days.  Consumers should register a complaint with the oil companies and the director of Civil Supplies, Puducherry if there is a delay in distribution by dealers.” he said.On the other hand, people should wait for home delivery so that the waiting list is not affected and while taking godown delivery, customers are advised to pay `8 less than the cost of the cylinder.  Customers are advised to insist on checking the cylinders for weight and leakages during delivery, the Chief Minister said.
