Udayakumar, a second year student of a private engineering college who was involved in a hurt case earlier, was on Sunday arrested along with five others as part of a drive against anti-social elements. Police recovered ten live bombs and other weapons kept hidden in an almirah in his residence, said Deputy Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) I D Shukla.
Police have registered cases under Section 27 of The Arms Act (1959), Section 5 of The Explosive Substances Act and Section 34 of IPC against those arrested.
Shukla said in another search, the Muthialpet police arrested two more rowdies, Rajsekar and Selvamani, who were also associates murdered history-sheeter R Jegan.
He said police were on the lookout of a few more members of the gang, led by notorious Anburajani, who were still absconding.
According to Superintendent of Police (North) S Ramaraj, among those arrested Marshall, was a diploma holder in hotel management and catering, while Kaliappan and Sathiyaraj were ITI students. He said all the youth were befriended by Anburajani, whose lavish lifestyle allegedly influenced them to take to crime.
