HYDERABAD: National Disaster Management will purchase an advanced aircraft to track weather changes during monsoons to help farmers during disasters, said MLA and vice-chairman of National Disaster Management Authority Marri Shasidhar Reddy on Monday. A 12-day long SAARC training programme on techniques of water conservation and rainwater harvesting for drought management, organised by Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture and SAARC Disaster Management Centre started at CRIDA on Monday. Talking to mediamen, Shasidhar Reddy said NDM would purchase an aircraft- C-130J, which uses state-of-the-art technology to track weather changes during monsoon.“During formation of troughs, low-pressure areas and deep depressions over Bay of Bengal and other coasts, the special device installed in the C-130J aircraft will help track the latest weather changes. A special device installed in the flight will help weather centres to track latest changes.This will help farmers to know weather details during cultivation,” he added. The new model of C-130 aircraft includes advanced two-pilot flight station with fully integrated digital avionics and other features. Shasidhar Reddy said they had also interacted with the Indian Air Force officials for operation and maintenance of the aircraft.
