Jammu: Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti (SASS), which is spearheading the ongoing agitation in Jammu over the Amarnath land issue, on Wednesday refused to soften its stand and said it will settle for nothing less than revocation of the government's order cancelling transfer of nearly 100 acres of land to the shrine board.
The SASS also turned down Governor NN Vohra's invitation to visit the controversial forest land at Bhatal.
"We have received a letter from Vohra to visit the site. We turn it down. But we will convene a meeting of executive committee later in the day and then reply," SASS convener Leela Karan Sharma told PTI over phone.
"We have already made the SASS stand clear to the Governor that nothing short of revocation of cancellation order and restoration of powers to the Board will be acceptable," he said.
On Wednesday’s all-party meeting in New Delhi convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sharma said the SASS couldn’t comment, as it has not been invited.
"The decision taken in the meeting will neither be binding on Samiti nor will we accept it," he said.
