The aromatic marinated chicken stuffed in bamboo shoots and roasted on coal is a delicacy which is enjoyed by meat lovers of Andhra Pradesh. This dish is called Bongulo chicken aka Bamboo chicken. It is one of the traditional forms of cooking meat with minimal to no oil and little spice. The dish has become quite popular because of its simplicity and takes about 15 minutes to cook with just coal and bamboo. There are various bamboo chicken stalls, which fall on the way to Araku Valley. Now, people in Telangana can relish this mouth-watering dish by visiting Karimnagar city.

Bongulo Chicken is not available in very many places. Earlier, when someone wanted to have this dish, they would have to visit places like Araku, Maredumilli Peru or Vishakhapatnam. Now, much to the delight of meat-lovers of Telangana, it is available at Karimnagar. Satish, who has a stall next to Shadi Khana in Karimnagar, sells chicken and biryani. Now, he sells Bongulo chicken as well.

This delectable dish is made with just homemade spices and almost no oil. This has attracted meat lovers from across the city to queue up in front of his stall to try out the famous Bongulo Chicken. In an interview with Local18, Satish said that they sell about 15 to 20 kilograms of Bongulo Chicken every day. He thought of serving the dish in his stall after he noticed that people had to go to faraway places to try out this special chicken dish.

What has further garnered him attention over the last four months, since he started serving this is the quality of the dish. Food lovers claim that Satish has not compromised on the quality. Here you will find Bongulo Chicken’s full dish is sold at the rate of Rs 600 per kg, while a half plate is sold for Rs 300 and a quarter plate for Rs 150. The bamboo is brought from the forest and is cooked in it, instead of a cooking pot.
